What Language Was The Quran Written In

The Quran, also spelled Koran, is the holy scripture of Islam. Muslims believe that it was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad in the Arabic language over a period of 23 years. The Arabic language of the Quran is considered to be a pure form of the language, with the Quranic Arabic being distinct from modern-day Arabic dialects.

Muslims all over the world read and recite the Quran in the original Arabic language, as it is believed that the Arabic language and the Quranic text are untranslatable and cannot be understood fully in translation. As a result, learning Arabic is considered essential for any serious study of Islam, and reciting the Quran in Arabic is an important part of Islamic prayer and worship.
