What is the reason for there being two books in the Bible called Genesis?

The Bible is divided into two main sections, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament consists of 39 books, and the first book in the Old Testament is called Genesis. However, some people may be surprised to learn that there are actually two books in the Bible called Genesis. The question is, why?

The answer lies in the fact that the Bible was written over a period of many centuries, by many different authors, in different languages, and using different writing styles. The books of the Old Testament were originally written in Hebrew, while the New Testament was written in Greek. The Bible was not compiled as a complete book until many years after the last book was written.

The two books of Genesis in the Bible are known as the Hebrew Genesis and the Greek Genesis. The Hebrew Genesis is the one that is commonly known as the first book of the Old Testament. It was written in Hebrew and is believed to have been completed around the 5th century BC. The Greek Genesis, also known as the Septuagint Genesis, is a translation of the Hebrew Genesis into Greek. It was completed around the 3rd century BC.

The reason for the existence of two books of Genesis in the Bible is that the Greek Genesis was the version of the Old Testament that was used by the early Christian church. When the Bible was first translated into Latin, the Greek version was the one that was used. As a result, the Greek Genesis became the standard version of the Old Testament for the early Christian church.

Despite the fact that the Greek Genesis was the standard version of the Old Testament for the early Christian church, the Hebrew Genesis is still widely regarded as the authoritative version of the book. This is because it is the original version of the book and is the one that has been used by Jews for centuries.
