Bible commentaries help the readers understand the Bible from a historical, cultural, and literary context. Reading bible commentaries is ultimately about seeking wisdom and knowing God’s ways.

Bible commentaries are of different types depending upon the intellectual inclination of the author. It can be critical, exegetical (explanation of the original context), expositional (description of the Bible using things other than the original context) or applicational.

An example of a Bible commentary would be the commentary by the Geneva Study Bible.
