What does the Bible say about surprises? Can we expect God to surprise us in our lives?

Another example of a surprise in the Bible is the story of Job. Job was a righteous man, but he experienced a series of devastating events that left him questioning God. In the end, God surprised Job by restoring his fortunes and blessing him with twice as much as he had before.

Life is full of surprises. Some surprises are good, while others can be challenging. As Christians, we often wonder if we can expect God to surprise us in our lives. In this blog post, we will explore what the Bible has to say about surprises and whether we can expect God to surprise us.

Surprises in the Bible

The Bible is full of stories of surprises. One of the most well-known stories is that of Mary and Joseph. In Luke 1:26-38, we read about how the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that she would conceive a child by the Holy Spirit. This was a huge surprise for Mary, but it was also a blessing, as she was chosen to be the mother of Jesus.

Another example of a surprise in the Bible is the story of Job. Job was a righteous man, but he experienced a series of devastating events that left him questioning God. In the end, God surprised Job by restoring his fortunes and blessing him with twice as much as he had before.

What does the Bible say about surprises?

The Bible teaches us that God is sovereign and in control of everything. In Isaiah 46:9-10, it says, "I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.'" This means that God knows everything that will happen in our lives, and he has a plan and purpose for each one of us.

However, the Bible also teaches us that God can surprise us. In Isaiah 43:19, it says, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." This means that God can do unexpected things in our lives, and he can use even the most challenging situations for our good.

Can we expect God to surprise us?

As Christians, we can expect God to surprise us in our lives. However, we must also remember that God's surprises are not always easy or comfortable. Sometimes, God's surprises may come in the form of trials or challenges that push us out of our comfort zones.

In Romans 8:28, it says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." This means that even when we face difficult surprises in our lives, we can trust that God is working for our good.

Another way that God can surprise us is through answered prayers. In James 4:2, it says, "You do not have because you do not ask God." This means that we should never be afraid to ask God for what we need or desire. Sometimes, God may surprise us by answering our prayers in unexpected ways.
