What does “he who dwells in the shelter of the Most High” mean in Psalm 91 and how can we apply it to our lives?

Psalm 91 is a beautiful and powerful piece of scripture that speaks of the protection and provision that God provides to those who trust in Him. One of the most well-known verses in this psalm is verse one, which says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”

This verse is a powerful declaration of God’s protection over those who seek refuge in Him. It speaks of a deep and abiding trust in God that allows us to find rest and security in His presence. When we dwell in the shelter of the Most High, we are protected from the storms of life and the attacks of the enemy. We are safe and secure in His loving arms.

So, what does it mean to dwell in the shelter of the Most High? Simply put, it means to make God our refuge and our dwelling place. It means to trust in Him completely and to seek His presence above all else. When we make God our dwelling place, we are saying that He is our source of strength, our source of wisdom, and our source of protection.

But how can we apply this to our lives? How can we make God our dwelling place and experience the protection and provision that He promises in Psalm 91? Here are a few practical steps that we can take:

  1. Seek God’s presence through prayer and worship. Spend time in prayer, asking God to reveal Himself to you and to help you trust in Him more fully. Worship Him with all your heart, and let His presence fill you with peace and joy.
  2. Meditate on God’s Word. Take time each day to read and meditate on the Word of God. Let His truth sink deep into your heart and renew your mind.
  3. Trust in God’s promises. When we trust in God’s promises, we can rest assured that He will take care of us. He is faithful to His Word, and He will never let us down.
