What is the biblical meaning of shofar?

In the Book of Psalms (98:6), the psalmist calls for the shofar to be sounded in praise: “With trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—shout for joy before the Lord, the King.” The shofar is thus associated with celebration, gratitude, and the acknowledgment of God’s kingship.
