What are the hindrances to spiritual growth in the Bible?

Proverbs 16:18 warns, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” When individuals rely on their own abilities or refuse to submit to God’s authority, they block the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
