How to get back into reading the bible after months of not doing it?

Many people find it difficult to maintain a consistent habit of reading the Bible. Life can get busy and we can easily become distracted by other things. However, if you've been away from reading the Bible for months and would like to start again, here are some tips to help you get back into it:

  1. Start with a plan: One of the reasons people struggle with consistency is because they don't have a plan. Decide how much time you want to dedicate to reading the Bible each day or week and create a schedule that you can stick to. You can use Bible reading plans or devotionals to give structure to your reading.
  2. Choose a comfortable place and time: Find a quiet and comfortable place where you can read without being disturbed. Choose a time of day when you're most alert and focused. Doing this will help you to stay focused and engaged with the text.
  3. Start with a familiar book or passage: If you've been away from reading the Bible for a while, it can be helpful to start with a familiar book or passage that you enjoy. This will help you to ease back into the habit of reading and build your confidence.
  4. Use study tools: There are many study tools available that can help you to better understand the Bible. You can use commentaries, Bible dictionaries, or study guides to help you gain a deeper understanding of the text.
  5. Read with purpose: Instead of just reading the Bible for the sake of it, try to read with a purpose. You can set a goal to learn more about a specific topic or theme in the Bible, or to find inspiration for a particular area of your life.
  6. Join a study group: Joining a Bible study group can be a great way to stay motivated and accountable. You can share your insights and questions with others, and learn from their perspectives.
