How did Moses communicate with God through the burning bush?

According to the story, Moses was tending to his father-in-law's flock when he saw a bush that was on fire but was not being consumed by the flames. Curious, Moses approached the bush, and that's when God spoke to him.

The story of Moses and the burning bush is one of the most well-known stories in the Bible. It tells the tale of how Moses, a Hebrew raised as an Egyptian, encountered God in the form of a burning bush and was given the task of leading his people out of slavery in Egypt. In this post, we will take a closer look at how Moses communicated with God through the burning bush.

The story of Moses and the burning bush is found in the book of Exodus, chapter 3. According to the story, Moses was tending to his father-in-law's flock when he saw a bush that was on fire but was not being consumed by the flames. Curious, Moses approached the bush, and that's when God spoke to him.

God called out to Moses from the burning bush and told him to remove his sandals, for the ground he was standing on was holy. God then identified Himself as the God of Moses' forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and told Moses that He had come to deliver the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.

Moses was understandably hesitant and asked God how he was supposed to do this. God responded by telling Moses that He would be with him and that Moses should tell the Israelites that God had sent him.

Moses then asked God what he should tell the Israelites when they asked for God's name. God replied, "I am who I am. Say this to the people of Israel: 'I am has sent me to you.'" (Exodus 3:14)

From this point on, Moses and God continued to communicate through the burning bush. God gave Moses instructions on what to do and say, and Moses conveyed these instructions to the Israelites. God also performed various miracles through Moses, such as turning his staff into a snake and causing water to flow from a rock.
