What Is A Donkey's Colt

A donkey's colt is a young donkey that is less than one year old. In the Bible, a donkey's colt is referred to in several different contexts. One of the most well-known instances is found in the New Testament, when Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey's colt on what is now celebrated as Palm Sunday. This event is described in all four of the Gospels, and is seen as a fulfillment of an Old Testament prophecy from Zechariah 9:9 which says, "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."
