What Does The Bible Say About Competition

Some biblical verses that discuss competition:

"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it." - 1 Corinthians 9:24

This verse talks about the importance of striving for excellence and doing our best, even in a competitive setting.

"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself." - Philippians 2:3

This verse highlights the danger of competition when it is fueled by selfishness and pride, and instead encourages us to have a humble attitude toward others.

"For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there." - James 3:16

Similar to the previous verse, this one warns against the negative effects of competition when it is driven by envy and self-promotion.
